Why and How Net Zero is the
Least Cost Option

For many architects detailing a net zero project is no longer the greatest challenge. Now the challenge lies with creating compelling logic and evidence for clients showing net zero is not only possible, but a smart business decision and investment. This session will focus on delivering net zero success by employing energy modeling, costing, and detailed financial analysis to demonstrate the prudence of net zero buildings to clients, occupants, donors, investors and stakeholders. We will emphasize the importance of integrated project delivery with collective commitments to metrics, shared accountability, and owner/occupant data tracking post occupancy with case study examples.

  • Utilize project metrics, testing, monitoring and performance tracking for success related to net zero project prediction, delivery and on-going operations.
  • Employ a step by step approach to demonstrate the financial implications and outcomes which determine when implementing financing for a net zero or net-zero-ready projects can cost less from year one than a code building.
