About the Speaker:

Suzanne H. Harness, Esq., AIA is both a licensed architect and a construction attorney with more than 30 years of experience in the design and construction industry.  Suzanne is President and founder of Harness Project Solutions, LLC, a firm providing a wide range of services for the design and construction industry, including: procurement consulting, risk management, and contract review, ADR services, and expert witness testimony. As Managing Director and Counsel, The American Institute of Architects, for over six years, Suzanne was responsible for the content of AIA Contract Documents, working actively in the creation and revision of AIA Contract Documents.

Suzanne was first licensed as an architect and practiced architecture in Washington, DC firms for several years, followed by 10 years managing design and construction contracts as an in-house owner’s representative, first for a commercial real estate developer and later for the General Services Administration (GSA). While at the GSA Suzanne received her J.D. Degree from the George Washington University Law School’s evening program. She then joined Seyfarth Shaw’s Washington, DC-based construction practice group, representing architects, owners, and contractors in litigation and contractual matters until joining the AIA in September, 2002. Suzanne is a member of the Virginia State Bar, the District of Columbia Bar, the American Bar Association (ABA) and the ABA Forum on the Construction Industry. She received a B.S. cum laude and M.Arch in Architecture from The Catholic University of America and is a life member of Tau Beta Pi, the national engineering honor society.

About the Speaker:

Lisa Dal Gallo has over 20 years of experience in the construction industry. Before becoming a lawyer, she worked professionally for one of the largest general contractors in the world. During that eight year period, Lisa held several different field and office positions completing millions of dollars worth of work-in-place for both the interior and core-and-shell divisions in the following sectors: medical / healthcare facilities, laboratories, retail space, office towers and light industry.
 
Lisa’s field experience provides her with insight and understanding of the development process form design inception through completion of construction. Her transactional practice focuses on risk management and contract drafting, review and negotiation for owners, architects, construction managers, contractors and subcontractors utilizing various project delivery methods, including integrated project delivery, for both public and private works. Lisa is also familiar with the various contractual arrangements and business structures for public private partnerships. On the claims side, she advises clients regarding a variety of legal issues including contractual disputes, claims analysis, negligence, termination, default, acceleration and delay, mechanic liens and stop notices and alternative dispute resolution.

About the Speaker:

 

Martin Andrejko is the national underwriting director for professional liability.  He has been with Zurich since late 2008 and is directly involved in the development and management of Zurich Construction's professional liability products for contractors and design professionals.

Prior to his current role, Martin spent nearly 15 years in the design professional insurance industry including positions as a loss control consultant and as a professional liability underwriter with XL and Zurich.

Before entering the insurance industry, Martin worked for 9 years for engineering and environmental consulting companies as an engineering geologist.  Project experiences ranged from landfill design to tunneling to groundwater studies.  He holds BS (Geological Sciences) from Lehigh University and an MS (Engineering Geology) from Drexel University.  He is a Certified Professional Geologist and has his Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist designation.  He currently resides outside of Philadelphia, PA.

Program Series

The Deep Dive into the Legal and Management Aspects of IPD is the first of our three-part DESIGN [realized] Integrated Project Delivery: Virtual Design to Construction (IPD/VDC) Series.  This program explores how successful designers, builders, and building owners achieve significant project goals through the best use of process and technology such as Building Information Modeling (BIM), construction management and collaboration tools.

Our Inside Stories, begin with an exploration of a project's architectural design parti. Project teams will share winning techniques to adopt, losing techniques to avoid, and other key experience gained as they have implemented IPD processes with VDC methodologies.

Deep Dive sessions provide detailed treatment of the best current thinking on legal, management, and technological issues associated with IPD/VDC projects, as well as new product and service ideas.
