Mapping the Way We Share Information to Build Better Buildings

Although marketing materials seem to promise a seamless path between BIM tools and energy analysis, the reality is that the current state-of-the-art technology is not able to accomplish this effectively. The expectations of architects and engineers, even inside the same office, are not properly aligned. Stantec's energy modeling specialist Matt Grinberg and BIM specialist Adam Rendek are developing a process map that will improve workflow between architects and engineers working on low energy BIM projects. Their work reveals that the solution to these issues lies in communication over technology.

In this presentation they will review the traditional method of energy analysis and discuss how this new method for mapping the way information is shared will improve the results for energy analysis.

About the Speaker:

Learn New Methods for Energy Analysis & Communication

  • explore the energy modeling process and gain a clear understanding of how it works;
  • identify issues with current design tools and practices that can interfere with the process of creating better buildings;
  • recognize common misaligned expections between disciplines in order to avoid them;
  • examine how to use a workflow map on specific projects.
